Sirloin Swiss & Grilled Onion Burger

SIRLOIN SWISS and GRILLED ONION BURGER
What's on it?  A larger burger patty with melted Swiss cheese, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, pickle strips and peppercorn mayonnaise sauce on a bakery style bun.  To make this at home get yourself some good quality beef to make the patties and splurge on some nice big buns, not those little prepacked things in the bread aisle.

Serves 4

1 small red onion, chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 1/4 teaspoons salt, divided
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon whole peppercorns, crushed
1 1 /2 pounds ground beef
4 kaiser rolls, split and toasted
Swiss cheese slices
tomato slices
lettuce leaves
pickles slices

Place onion on a greased baking sheet. Drizzle with oil and sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon salt; toss to coat. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-12 minutes or until tender. Cool slightly. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, crushed peppercorns and onion mixture; set aside.

Sprinkle beef with remaining salt; gently mix. Shape into four patties. In a large skillet, cook patties over medium heat for 6-8 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 160 degrees and juices run clear. Add cheese and allow to melt. Serve on rolls with mayonnaise mixture and, if desired, tomato and lettuce and other ingredients.

Jumbo Jack Burger

JUMBO JACK BURGER
Jack in the Box Copycat Recipe

Makes 1 Sandwich

Beef
I suggest using factory frozen 1/4 pound beef patties from your grocers
freezer.

Sandwich
1 sesame seed hamburger bun
2 tomato slices
chopped white onion
2 dill pickle slices
2 large lettuce leaves

Sauce
1 tablespoon of mayonnaise
1/8 teaspoon lemon juice
dash onion powder
dash sugar

Cook: Preheat an electric griddle to 400 degrees .Toast your buns by laying face down on the griddle for about a minute. Set aside. Cook the still frozen beef patty 4−5 minutes per side, salting liberally before and after turning.

Top Bun:  Half of the mayonnaise sauce 1 tablespoon chopped, white onion 2 dill pickle slices 2 lettuce leaves 2 tomato slices

Bottom Bun:  Spread the remaining mayo sauce evenly. When the burger is finished cooking, drain the fat, and apply to the dressed top bun. Add the dressed bottom bun.

Mini Sirloin Burgers

MINI SIRLOIN BURGERS
Jack in the Box Copycat Recipe

1 lb. ground sirloin
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/2 onion sliced thin
4 slices American cheese
6 to 8 pickle slices
ketchup
1 tablespoon peanut oil

Combine ground sirloin, seasoned salt, and ground pepper.  Mix well.  Slice onion thinly and place into a skillet with peanut oil.  Grill onions slowly, do not brown onions.  When the onions are almost translucent make 6 to 8 hamburger patties, make them thick (about 1/2 inch), and place into hot pan.

Grill hamburgers for 4 to 5 minutes before turning them.  Flip hamburgers, and remove onions.  When hamburger patties are done assemble them with. Bottom bun, pickle, meat patty, cheese, grilled onions, and then ketchup.

Egg Nog Milkshake

1 cup Premium vanilla ice cream
1/3 cup Premium Egg Nog

Combine both ingredients in a blender, and mix until blended. You may wish to top with a dash of Nutmeg.
